El Cookie Rookie pays respect to all the women in my life that have shown me unconditional love, especially through food. My mission is to pay their kindness forward and help aspiring young cooks fulfill their culinary dreams, especially those labeled “at-risk”. I’ll do this by: Donating 15 cents from every cookie sold to “Working Food”, a local non-profit offering gardening, culinary, and nutrition programs to underserved communities. Using high quality brands that support community, humanitarian, and sustainability efforts. The added benefit is a much more flavorful, crispier, chewier cookie. King Arthur Flour: Support food access, regenerative farming and economic opportunity by partnering with Food Corps, Viva Farms, and Dog Tag to name a few. Eggland’s Best Eggs: Focus on animal safety & welfare as well as sustainability. They “conduct more than 75,000 quality tests each year” to ensure the quality of their Eggs. Nielsen-Massey Vanilla Extract: Family owned and focused on environmental sustainability as well as supporting non-profits that offer after school, mentoring, literacy, school readiness, career training, etc. Guittard Chocolate: Family owned. Their “Cultivate Better” initiative seeks to preserve the environment, support people & communities, and honorable sourcing.
