tripadvisorHave been in “correspondence” with their AI for 6 weeks to amend a booking for 19/8. No response, no ability to amend, no phone number works from UK!
MoreI’m so disappointed! One of the 3 tours we purchased was cancelled on us last minute due to over booking and the excursion company having to “take care of those who booked through the cruise ship” we were told by the company representative named Candy that canceled our excursion that we would receive a full refund. Unfortunately that was not accurate information and Alaska Shore Tours does not give a full refund even if it is canceled due to no fault of your own. I have reached out to the company multiple times with no response as to why. Proceed with caution, I would hate for others to lose money like my family did!
MoreWe spent approximately $2200 with Alaska Shore Tours. They are simply a tour company who schedules the excursions. One of our excursions (Deadliest Catch) was delayed returning to the docks because their pot got entangled in a fisherman's net. This caused us to be ten minutes late to our next excursion (George's Inlet Crab Feast). The guide called my phone and I explained that we were running about 10 minutes behind. He told me they were leaving without us and we would not get a refund. I asked if we could take a cab, or join a later feast, but that request was also denied. I would have expected a resolution to the problem at hand, not just a, sorry, you are out of luck. I do not recommend this company.
MoreI was encouraged by Alaska Shore Tours to follow the Book Now, Pay Later option in order to cover an expensive booking of a seaplane for two people to Taku Lodge in Alaska in June of 2023. This option includes a 5% nonrefundable deposit. Fifteen minutes before the tour meeting time, I was called and informed that the excursion was canceled due to poor weather at the lodge (not in Juneau). Upon going to the meeting location in order to verify the situation, I was told by the front desk attendant that nothing could be done and that all other seaplane tours were booked for the day (she did not apologize for the inconvenience, and to my frustration, she was very short, curt, and quite rude when I asked if any other slots were available to book/pay for that day). While I was refunded 95% and acknowledge that 5% was nonrefundable, it was a shame to be out that money, especially when Alaska Shore Tours canceled the excursion so late in the day (as a result, I could not find any other open tours to attend in Juneau for me and my partner). Furthermore, nothing was done to rectify the situation that day, and I felt that I was not treated kindly. That excursion was the highlight for my partner and I ever since we'd planned it six months prior, and I worked extremely hard to pay for it. While I'm happy that 95% was refunded, it was a very poor experience overall and I would unfortunately not recommend working with Alaska Shore Tours.
MoreWe booked with Wilderness Island Tour through viator and Alaskan shore tours for the bear and wildlife tour. Yes we had locals to take us on this tour. We were told to be at meeting time at 7am latest. We were there 6.50am. No one arrived until 7.30am. And the other tour operators didn’t know where they were. We loaded onto a minibus and we’re given unscripted disjointed random information of what we were seeing. On arriving at the first bridge to hopefully see bears both our husband and wife tour guides both sighed loudly that other buses had arrived before us. ( no kidding guys, all the buses had left way before ours so what did you expect) those first buses saw bears, we didnt. We then went to a other bridge and waited 20 minutes for nothing. Then we went to an open water area where we did see a bear walking away from us down the road about 150ft away which quickly disappeared. Saw nothing else that day except a bald eagle I spotted and a deer at the side of the road. I dont expect to see bears to order but for the money $279.00 I do expect some proper information on the area, not one guide asking the other “should I tell them this” and not incoherent unfinished rubbish. They should at least have had the decency to have a crib sheet to refer to for the money we paid. We later found out that other tours had specific viewing platforms they went to. We didnt go to any. So a massive thumbs down for this tour - dont waste yourMoney.
