Reviews
tripadvisorI chose the hotel because of its reputation as one of the premier places to stay in Waco, and we reserved the Columbus Presidential Suite. Check-in was seamless, and our first impression of the room was excellent. After returning to our room around 10:00 p.m., we were awakened at approximately 1:30 a.m. by the telephone ringing. The front desk employee informed me that a previous guest had apparently left important documents in the safe in our room. She asked me to try the code provided to see if it would open the safe and explained that, if it did not, she intended to send someone to our room to access it.I was stunned by this request. It was 1:30 in the morning, and my two daughters were asleep in the room. I tried the code, which did not work, and immediately called the front desk back to make it clear that under no circumstances was anyone to come to our room in the middle of the night. While the employee ultimately respected my request, I was left feeling extremely unsettled. It took quite some time before I was able to fall back asleep because I could not stop thinking about how inappropriate—and frankly alarming—the situation was. What concerns me most is the serious lapse in judgment and guest safety. As a woman alone in a hotel room with two young daughters, receiving a call at 1:30 a.m. asking me to allow someone into my room was deeply disturbing. In today's world, guests should never be placed in a position where they have to question whether such a request is legitimate or whether their family's safety could be at risk. While I have no reason to believe there was any malicious intent, the employee had no way of knowing how that request would be perceived, nor should a guest ever be put in that situation. This incident should never have occurred at a hotel of this caliber. Any issue involving a previous guest's belongings should have been addressed during normal business hours or after we had checked out. Waking a current guest in the middle of the night and asking them to assist in accessing a safe—or to potentially admit hotel staff into their room—is simply unacceptable.
MoreMy stay at Hotel 1928 during the Magnolia Realty Mid-Year Assembly was absolutely wonderful! From the moment I arrived until the time I checked out, everything exceeded my expectations. The hotel is beautiful, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully designed. My room was perfection—comfortable, peaceful, and incredibly quiet. I slept so well and never heard a sound all night, which made for a truly relaxing stay. What stood out most, though, was the exceptional staff. From the gentleman who greeted me and took my car to the wonderful waitress at breakfast the next morning, every single person I encountered was warm, kind, welcoming, and genuinely happy to help. Their hospitality made the experience even more memorable. The breakfast was delicious, and the rooftop lounge was such a fun place to unwind. We stepped outside onto the rooftop seating area to watch the sunset, and even in July, the evening was surprisingly pleasant with a gentle breeze. It was the perfect way to end the day.I highly recommend Hotel 1928 to anyone visiting Waco. It was one of the best hotel experiences I've had, and I will definitely be staying there again!
MoreLovely place: friendly staff and good food. Had many good conversations with front desk, servers, manager, parking attendant, and lady at the gift shop. All very kind
MoreThe decor and the ambiance of the building was spectacular. I will definitely stay again, every time I go to Waco. Magnificently renovated with a Gatsby vibe.
MoreThe hotel was beautiful with many interesting areas to enjoy. We were treated very well. The staff was warm and friendly. Berties on the Rooftop was an excellent restaurant. My meal was amazing, the decor was eye candy, and the wait staff was great. The Brassiere was also very enjoyable. The photos of Waco that were displayed around the hotel were real art pieces.
