tripadvisorWell, just south of Glorieta NM is an ad hoc parking lot that we had seen a number of times driving by on I-25 going to Santa Fe. Based on the cars and parking lot, we thought it was a hiking trail. It is. Today, we had the opportunity to hike the trail.First the area: it's in a canyon with an intermittent stream at its base. The sides got up rapidly with a beautiful mixed forest. The trail is an up and back trail about 1 1/2 miles long. It is quite gentle with a few ups and downs that are a bit challenging. Toward the end is a tight squeeze necessitating scrambling over some logs to go forward. An amazing hike. We took it in the Fall. But on a hot summer day, it would be quite nice since it's mostly shaded by the large trees nearby. The only caution is that the trail is indistinct in places. We got a bit lost coming back down. But since it's a canyon, it is hard to get lost.We plan to try it again in a different season to see how it is then.
