There are numerous monuments situated throughout the State Capital grounds including this Pearl Harbor Memorial situated to the north of the State Capital building near the Texas WWI and WWII Memorials. This is the work of Scott Field (1989) and pays respect to Texas men and women who were in military service in Hawaii when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour (1941). The monument is simple yet graceful, a disk shaped structure made of Texas Sunset Red Granite and marble with a bronze seal of the Pearl Harbour Survivors Association. It is a nice tribute along with the other war memorials nearby to servicemen and women from the Texas, worth spending a few minutes while monument viewing around the Capital grounds.
