tripadvisorThis was a one-hour walking tour, primarily through downtown Corvallis. It was a good pace, not too fast or slow. Our guide, Gemma, was engaging and upbeat. The stories were interesting and were told to us in such a way that we wanted to share them with friends afterwards. Good value for money for a knowledgable and experienced guide.
MoreWhat an excellent tour? Friendly, informative, fun, GREAT follow-up (we got an email after the tour with well researched answers to every question our capable guide couldn’t answer on the spot.
MoreJema was a super great and knowledgeable guide! The tour was a perfect length and the tour of Oregon Trail Brewery was awesome!
MoreJema's tour was perfect. There were six of us. We sat for a few minutes before walking so she could give us basic information and contextualize the tour. We then walked to four locations that were each somehow connected to the stories of these four remarkable people. Along the way, Jema was so great about offering whatever information we were interested in about Corvallis as we walked--architecture, history, more about the tour's focus--these 4 individuals. She even jotted down every question she couldn't answer and followed up later with an email answering our random questions! She really sees the big picture and why real and local specifics are important. After the tour, (which was a birthday present), while we four friends walked to dinner downtown, I felt differently about this town that I had always loved; the tour made this place feel more connected to a real past with real people. The buildings all seemed more alive with the life they have held! Jema is very articulate and kept clearly helping us understand why any of this--any way of getting to know the actual place of your community and all of its real specifics--matters. All of this in one hour! I would recommend any of her tours.
MoreEngage Corvallis tours are special - they are very well researched and describe why things are the way they are. The tour we went on was about the history of beer in Corvallis and our guide went deep into how this area became such a mecca for beer. We also got a great behind the scenes tour of the Oregon Trail Brewery, which is one of the oldest breweries around - it was really fun. I've lived here for a long time and still learned all kinds of new things.
