Moxy Fox is an owner-run salon in downtown Carrboro, built around color. Mike Wood has been cutting and coloring hair in the Chapel Hill area for 25 years. He trained at Leon's Beauty School in Greensboro, learned color theory and fashion tones under a mentor from South Korea, and is now a licensed cosmetology instructor who trains other stylists. We specialize in balayage, single and double process color, highlights and babylights, and fashion/fantasy color — vivids, pastels and custom blends. Cuts cover everything from precision women's cuts and curly cuts to men's cuts and beard trims. Keratin smoothing, Olaplex bond repair and perms round out the menu. What clients tell us they notice: we talk you through a cut while it's happening and offer choices along the way, instead of handing you a finished result and hoping. We don't put heat on hair that doesn't need it. First visits are booked with extra time so we can actually understand what you're after — bring pictures, they help more than words. The room matters too. Art deco, open plan for conversation, with quieter corners if you'd rather not talk, and a rotating gallery of work by local artists and the Carrboro art league, all of it for sale.
