More### ★★★★☆ Beautiful Hotel, Wonderful Staff, a Few FrustrationsThe Iris is a lovely little hotel in a fantastic location. The rooms are gorgeous, the beds are AMAZING, and the hotel is incredibly quiet. I don't think I heard another guest the entire time we were there. The staff were consistently wonderful, friendly, and helpful.A few negatives, though.First, the restaurant. I'm not entirely convinced they actually had any food. Everything we tried to order was unavailable. It became almost funny after a while. Also, they never told us! Hours went by, no food. Second, the room was SO HOT at night. I actually sweated through the sheets. I don't know if the AC was broken or just not working properly, but it was miserable. There was a fan, but it was loud and didn't help much. Such a shame because the bed was absolutely fantastic. The kitchenette is a great addition, but please put some forks in there! Especially since Uber Eats was practically impossible to use. Uber wasn't much better. Service in the area was terrible, so getting food delivered or arranging transportation was surprisingly difficult. Do NOT plan on using UberEats. There a zillion restaurants around but this was a working trip for me. I also requested a massage through the hotel's own check-in system and never heard a word back. When I mentioned it, nobody seemed particularly concerned. Why offer the option if nobody is going to follow up?One thing that absolutely deserves mentioning: we were unexpectedly stuck away from the hotel and couldn't get back in time for checkout. The staff kindly gave us an extra hour, which I really appreciated. That earned them an extra star.Overall, I really liked the Iris. It's beautiful, small, wonderfully quiet, and in a terrific location. The staff are lovely. There are just some practical things that need attention, particularly the room temperature and the restaurant. Fix those, and I'd happily give it five stars.
MoreVery nice, new hotel in a great location if you don't want to be in the center of the city. Rates are very reasonable. Convenient to the T and Uber is always easy. Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed - our king had a huge frig and cooking availability (you'd have to bring your cutlery, plates, and pans, though) Staff courteous and helpful.
MoreTHE IriS is really well-located within a block of a shopping area with clothing stores, restaurants, coffee shops, a drug store, etc. The hotel itself is really beautiful and done in shades of purple throughout. The bedroom carpet is plush and textured. The walk-in shower with rain shower is wonderful although it could use a hand-rail for safety. The beds were high and comfortable, with lots of pillows. We had a room facing the back and it was incredibly quiet. We had breakfast via room-service and it was delicious and well-presented. The hotel feels elegant but is subtle. The gardens in front of the hotel are colorful and lovely.
