Murfreesboro is a picturesque city in Tennessee that also serves as the seat of Rutherford County. One of the fastest growing cities in the country, Murfreesboro was settled in 1811 and incorporated as a city in 1817. Steeped in Civil War history, the city preserves remnants of its pasts which can be witnessed with an immersive tour. The Stones River National Battlefield is the famous site of a military victory that played a major role in the Emancipation Proclamation. The Stones River National Cemetery is another historic landmark, being the final resting place of many soldiers. Other attractions include Discovery Center at Murfree Spring, the old Oaklands Mansion, and Barfield Crescent Park.
