tripadvisorLovely accommodations with good lighting options, nice lobby, great gift shop with local coffee. Walkable downtown location.
MoreDuring our recent two week Alaska trip, we stayed at the Wildbirch on 3 separate individual nights. Each time we stayed we had two rooms booked, and over the course of our nights there, we stayed in several different room types and suites. I picked this property because I am a Hyatt Globalist and could stay on points, as well as the location and the fact it had been recently updated. Communication from the front desk prior to arrival was excellent. The hotel has an on site restaurant as well a coffee shop. It is a really nice vibe, lots of wood details etc. Parking for check-in is a little confusing, as the entrance is on a Main Street and there is no area to pull in. However, there is a parking lot in the back of the property. First stay - First stay was a great stay. We had an Urban suite and a standard room nearby for adult kids on the 3rd floor. The decor was nice. The standard rooms are a little tight. We had some small issues, such as no phones in the room and the temperature control in the suite wasn't working properly, but they showed us a manual work around. As mentioned in many reviews, noise can be a factor depending on where your room is located and views typically include streets etc. with some water in the distance. Breakfast the next morning was good. Overall a pleasant stay. 2nd stay we arrived around 3:30 to find a large check-in line and both of our rooms not ready. After hanging around the property for a while we decided to go for an early dinner. Both our rooms were finally ready at approximately 5:30. This time I believe we were in a premier suite with an adjoining standard room on the first floor. As previously mentioned in other reviews we could smell a sewerage type smell as we headed down the long corridors on floor one. Again no phones in either roomOur 3rd stay we arrived to again find another large line at check in and for the second time our rooms were not ready. It was approximately 6 pm by the time we were fully in both rooms. Wildbirch has the potential to be a great hotel, but definitely needs to make changes to ensure guests rooms are available when they check in. There also needs to be tighter quality controls for room inventory such as telephones, broken key card readers, etc. The nights we were there, a standard room was approximately $700 a night and so waiting hours for your room to be ready is unacceptable. I did send an email to management while on property with constructive feedback. It does appear that was recently a change in management. The highlight of this property is the front desk staff. They are all very pleasant and helpful. However, I couldn't help but feel sorry for them as they got the brunt of frustrated guests when rooms were not ready.
MoreExcellent customer service by the catering staff. Drinks were excellent in the bar/restaurant. I loved the bedding and pillows. I appreciated that earplugs were included in my room, due to the noise level on the street side of the building. Service was a little slow in the dining room, but it wouldn't deter me from going again.
MoreVery nice hotel in the downtown area of Anchorage. The hotel was very clean and the rooms wee very clean and comfortable. The hotel also has a good restaurant. Will stay here again if ever visiting Anchorage.
MoreThis is a charming hotel in the downtown Anchorage area close to everything. The staff is overly friendly. Nice, clean rooms, a cozy lobby, and a great restaurant and bar make it just right.I would definitely stay here again.
