My family and I stayed at Pixar Place Hotel from October 20th through October 22nd, and unfortunately, our experience was pretty disappointing, especially considering the price you pay to stay at a Disney property.I booked two rooms, one for my wife, our kids, and myself, and another for my mother in law. Our room included access to the Creator’s Club, but my mother in law’s room was a standard room without that access.During check in, the staff kept trying to convince me to upgrade her room to Club Level for an additional $150–$160 per night. I declined multiple times, but they continued pushing the upgrade. Eventually, I agreed because I figured it would be nice for my mother in law to enjoy the same amenities as the rest of us.After agreeing to the upgrade, the employee stepped away for about 15 minutes, only to come back and tell me that the room might not be ready until later that night, or possibly not even until the following morning. At that point, I was pretty frustrated. How are you going to repeatedly try to sell me an upgrade without even knowing if the room is available?Their solution was to offer my mother in law a premium view room instead, except now it was going to cost an additional $220 per night. I explained that I had no problem taking the alternative room, but since they were the ones who offered me the original upgrade and couldn’t deliver on it, I felt it was only fair that they honor the price they had originally quoted me.They refused.Long story short, I ended up paying an additional $514 just to get the situation resolved. At this point, I had been checking in for about 40 minutes. So we all just wanted to get up to a room after a long day of traveling from out of state. What really bothered me wasn’t even necessarily the money. It was the way the entire situation was handled. There was no real effort to accommodate us, no flexibility, and honestly, no sense that anyone cared about the inconvenience they had caused.I’m not someone who expects things for free, and I understand that sometimes rooms aren’t available or things don’t go as planned. But when your own staff repeatedly pushes an upgrade on a guest, only to turn around and say it’s unavailable, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect the hotel to take some responsibility. We chose Pixar Place Hotel because we wanted our kids and family to have a great Disney experience. At the prices Disney charges, I expected much better customer service than what we received. It’s disappointing that something that could have been handled so easily ended up leaving such a bad impression on our stay. I really hope someone from management takes the time to look into what happened, because I genuinely don’t feel this situation was handled fairly. For a hotel that’s supposed to offer a premium Disney experience, I expected a lot better.

We recently returned home from a two-night stay at Pixar Place and were unfortunately very unimpressed with our experience. The week before our arrival, we received an email notifying us that the entire pool deck would be closed during our stay and that we would need to use either the Disneyland Hotel pool or the Grand Californian pool. While the Grand Californian pool is just across the street and wasn’t terribly inconvenient, it was still an added hassle and inconvenience that we had not anticipated when booking our stay.On our second day, we returned from the parks to shower and discovered that there was no hot water in our room. A maintenance employee came up, ran the water, and told us that they were working on getting the issue resolved. Unfortunately, this was another significant inconvenience during an already short two-night stay. That same day, I also noticed that my daughter had bug bites all over her legs. She had been sleeping on the small twin pull-out bed and was the only person in our family who had bites, which was obviously concerning. We brought this to the attention of the front desk when we checked out. They did offer to make things right by providing Lightning Lane passes, which we appreciated, but at that point we were finished with our time at the parks and the offer wasn’t particularly useful to us.Overall, we were very disappointed with our stay at Pixar Place. Between the pool closure, lack of hot water, and the concern over the bites my daughter received, we experienced several issues during what was supposed to be a short and enjoyable stay. Unfortunately, based on this experience, Pixar Place is not a hotel we would be likely to choose again.

Overall Rating: 97/110 - Exceptional.Class of Room Booked: 2 Queen Class of Room Stayed: 2 Queen Pool ViewPrice per night (with taxes): $930 - During D23 and Included Park Tickets and LL PackageThe Quick Hits:Would I stay here again? YesValue rating based on price paid: Fair (Price was higher than usual due to large event)The Details:Hotel Design Location and Layout:Location (10/10 – Met Expectations) – There are literally only 2 hotels closer to the park entrance, the Disneyland Hotel and the Grand Californian. This hotel is maybe 3 minutes further than those depending on walking path (there is a path direct to Downtown Disney/Disneyland hotel and another route to the Grand Californian and into CA - resort key required). Plus you still have access to all local dining etc. Hotel Lobby/Common Areas(9/10 – Exceeded Expectations) – The lobby is large and beautiful. The theming is well done, but not over the top, pay close attention to the detail in the images behind the guest services desks. Plenty of seating, Hotel Amenities(9/10 – Met expectations) – In Disney terms this is a cross between a Deluxe and moderate - and the amenities match that. There are sit down and casual options for dining - although not intuitive (see below). The pool is fairly large and there is an expansive splash area. Bonus amenities include movie showings, partial visibility of fireworks (with music) and random Bing-Bong sightings!Room:Design and Layout (8/10 – Met expectations) – Really nicely themed, fairly standard Disney room. Could use some kind of a table. Pixar lamp a really nice touchComfort(8/10 – Met expectations) – Standard Disney beds and seating.Condition(8/10 – Met Expectations) – Some wear and tear, but nothing major Amenities(8/10 – Met Expectations) – Standard but actually themed to the hotel, even cups and coasters. Staff:Front Desk/Service(10/10 – Exceeded Expectations) – Every interaction was a pleasure - detail oriented and friendly, both at guest services and bell.Housekeeping (8/10 - Met Expectations) - Other Staff (8/10 - Greatly Exceeded Expectations) - Store staff helpful and polite. Food Service:Paid Dining:Restaurant/Cafe (8/10 - Met/Exceeded Expectations) – Dining at the hotel is a little counter intuitive. The cafe closes at 2 PM - lite bites are then available at the pool bar but this is not obvious unless you happen to go out there. Should be a sign at the counter. We used the restaurant for takeout one night, portion size was very reasonable, and the Mac and Cheese was stellar. Disney pricing does apply.Room Service(Not Avail) - Complimentary Dining:Breakfast (NA) - Club/Executive Lounge (if Applicable) (NA) - Other Areas:Special Perks(bonus points) - 2 points awarded for random Bing Bong meet and greet. 1 bonus point for not just distance but ease of access to Downtown Disney and ParksOther:Family Friendly: Incredibly so. Pet Friendly: UnknownNotes/Summary: It's a Disney hotel, so price plan accordingly. But its a great option for a Disneyland visit, with the caveat there are MANY non Disney options within a 10-15 min walk of the park.About my system - All scores are based on expectations, where 7.5 = met expectations, 10 is highly exceeded, and 1, well, something went horribly wrong. Expectations take into account a number of factors, such as price paid, brand, and location. They will vary greatly from the Waldorf Astoria to a Super 8. All scores are averaged and translated to a score out of 10. 1 Trip Advisor dot applies for each 2 points, so 4 dots is the most likely scenario.

We stayed for a week at Pixar. We knew it was the cheapest hotel of the 3, so weren't expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised. The decor in the lobby is fun, quirky and modern and the rooms follow suit. The staff are lovely, helpful and always have big smiles. Little things do make a difference, such as the staff, the non fog mirrors in the bathrooms, the fridge and the spacious rooms. We stayed on the 12th floor with amazing views of California Adventure and the nightly fireworks. The Maple restaurant was great - expensive, but nothing in Disney is cheap! The lifts were fine. Sure at times they took a little while but this is nothing new for a busy hotel. The reasons for not giving 5 stars - the pool area is MUCH too small. The splash pad was extremely disappointing, my toddler didn't spend more than 2 minutes there. The pool was so crowded it was quite stressful with a toddler and kids jumping on top of us. I was shocked to see children jumping in and out of the jacuzzi as well. They really need an adults only jacuzzi at least and a much bigger pool, with staff managing the out of control children. There is also no room service - this seriously is a shame as we would have utilised this a lot. The snack food downstairs was fine but we paid a lot for a fruit pot which was full of bad fruit that was inedible! I also do not understand why they cant supply some bottled water - this is a basic. All up, the location is great and an easy walk to Downtown Disney and the Parks. The staff are fantastic and the decor and cleanliness is great. They're just missing a trick with the pool, some complimentary water and the room service. I'd recommend the hotel if you're not looking to swim/lounge by the pool and are happy not to have room service.
