Tsuki was born from a deep love of food, culture, and connection. Our founder grew up between worlds—spending his childhood, summers and high school years in Japan, rooted in the traditions of his Japanese heritage, and now calling Portland home. Family gatherings, neighborhood festivals, and late-night snacks with friends shaped a belief that food is more than just sustenance—it’s a way to show love, to share joy, and to build community. Bingsu and taiyaki were always a part of that experience: icy bowls piled high with fresh fruit on humid summer days; warm, golden fish-shaped cakes filled with sweet red bean or custard on chilly nights. These were the flavors of his youth, tied to moments of laughter, storytelling, and togetherness. Opening Tsuki has been a dream grounded in that spirit. We’re here to bring that familial feeling to Portland—a place to slow down, share something sweet, and connect with the people around you.
