Spring Migration Route of Orcas Government & Community

The orca, or killer whale, is the largest, toothy member of the oceanic dolphin family. Wild orcas often travel great distances in the pursuit of food and peaceful calving sites. With the help of tracking devices, scientists have been able to track the movements of groups of orcas, allowing us to learn more about their travel patterns. Some orca families travel from the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico up to the summer waters off of Alaska in the spring. This pattern is also followed by other groups of whales, such as the Pacific Grey Whale.
