In November 2008, the Aukes family purchased their first location — a building that housed an auto repair shop, restaurant, and salon — and officially opened Carz R Us on January 22, 2009. About a year and a half later, we learned the building would be demolished due to the Ralston Road expansion. It was an unexpected challenge, but we turned it into an opportunity — building a brand-new facility at the corner of Routes 173 and 251. That bold move became the foundation of the Carz R Us you know today. Now, we’re excited to continue growing with the addition of our new second location at 7800 N 2nd Street in Machesney Park — formerly Ernie’s Auto Service. We’re honored to welcome Ernie’s longtime customers into the Carz R Us family and look forward to providing the same trusted, quality care you’ve come to expect, backed by our expanded team and services. At Carz R Us, our focus is on transparency, trust, and relationships — with digital inspections, an educational (not pushy) approach, and the convenience of shuttle service, complimentary loaner cars, and vehicle pickup. We take pride in serving our community and supporting local schools and organizations. We can’t wait to serve you — whether you’ve been with us for years or are joining us for the first time.
