O3 NWA Environmental & Ecological Service

Ozone is a naturally occurring gas composed of three oxygen atoms (O3), making it a more reactive form of oxygen than the standard O2 we breathe. Ozone can be used to eliminate odors through a process called oxidation. Odor-causing substances are often volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or other molecules that release gases into the air. When ozone is released into an environment via an ozone generator (a device that produces O3 on-site), its extra oxygen atom reacts with these odor molecules, breaking them down chemically and neutralizing them, essentially “burning” or altering their structure so they no longer produce smells. Ozone is often considered an environmentally friendly disinfectant due to its ability to break down rapidly into harmless oxygen without leaving persistent chemical residues or byproducts.
