Stan Berning has been a fixture in Santa Fe's art scene since the '80s. An abstract expressionist until the pandemic, he has embraced watercolor landscape paintings that capture the vastness of space that makes New Mexico so ineffable and magical. He personally provided a presentation of his artwork, and made my day with his gentle and genial discussion of what makes my perception of beauty so real.
