Reviews
tripadvisorWe stayed at the Hyatt Centric St. Louis Downtown just as it opened. The hotel is in a beautifully restored former shoe company building and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. Everyone was clearly still learning the ropes, but they were incredibly gracious, welcoming, and helpful. I especially enjoyed meeting the front desk staff. As you’d expect from a brand-new hotel, there are still a few things to work out. We found some outlets that didn’t work, construction debris in the bathroom corners, no outlet for the coffee maker, etc. None of these issues were major and hopefully they’ll be addressed as the hotel settles in.My main reason for writing this review is to give future guests a heads-up about the neighborhood and the noise. There was a lot of loud car and engine noise on the street late into the night. We also noticed that police had blocked off part of the street with concrete barriers over the weekend. At first, I assumed this was to create a pedestrian-friendly area but later learned the barriers were meant to discourage car sideshows. The hotel itself has a lot going for it, especially the beautiful building and genuinely wonderful staff. I hope it does well, but prospective guests should know what to expect from the surrounding area, particularly on weekend nights.
