It's a super nice theater - perhaps the finest I've ever been to. Taking in SPAMALOT as part of my wife's 50th birthday celebration was fun! Just FYI for those thinking about Balcony seats: we were close enough to see and hear just fine, but sometimes you could see things you weren't supposed to, like actors crawling behind a wall. Still, with price factored in, I'd probably choose the same seats.

The theater is very nice. Wonderful sound. Just place to go for an event. We saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Yes... go if they have something you would like. Staff super great.

I saw Newsies at the Buell, and the show was amazing. The theater atmosphere was fine, but the reception was odd. We had front row mezzanine tickets. As we were shown to our seats, the usher told us not to put our feet or any stuff on the ledge so as not to fall on the people below (understandable) and not to take ANY PICTURES including before the production started. She emphasized that her rule included selfies. I'm sorry, but I don't understand that. I'm from Chicago, where we have many beautiful historic theaters where theatergoers are encouraged to take pictures before the show starts. The Buell isn't particularly photogenic in my opinion, but what logical reason do you have for not allowing photos? I saw the usher confront someone nearby who was looking at something on her phone--not taking pictures...and this was at least 10 minutes before curtain. Seems a bit extreme to me! Obviously if a show you want to see is coming through town, go. Just be aware of the silly rules.

While it's obvious that some folks are writing reviews about the show, I would like to offer some perspective about the venue itself. My wife and I attended the show at the Buell on Black Friday. We figure most people would be too busy shopping to be in the arts and theater district. We were right. Traffic going to the 2 o'clock matinee was light and uneventful. There was plenty of parking when we arrived an hour earlier than the show. Our seats were in the 7th row, about 10 seats in from the wall. They were unobstructed but center stage would have been ideal. The unfortunate fact about the Buell is that while every seat in the venue appeared to be good, the spacing of them was reminiscent of a discount airline. I'm 6 feet tall but was able to sit fairly comfortably until I wanted to stretch my legs or cross them. I literally had all of about 4 inches from my knees to the back of the seat in front of me. If someone needed to get up to leave for any reason, there was no room for people to pass by. The entire row would need to stand up or vacate the row to create a passable walkway! Another interesting fact about this venue is the strict no cameras or cell phones policy enforced in the auditorium. Absolutely no usage is allowed, but many people were using their phones nonetheless.. At least until one of the enforcer-ushers would come by to make people put them away. The restrooms, the men's room at least, was clean and stocked with the necessary toiletries. The concession stands were plentiful and seemed to move at a reasonable pace considering the size of the crowd and lines. Overall, I would recommend this venue, but if you can get them, get seats on the center isles because if you are anywhere else in the row, you are at the mercy of the other patrons. It would be worth the time and effort to call in for seating specifics if this is a concern for you.

Saw a show at the Buell. A group of 4 obnoxious older women were in our seats and did not want to leave. The usher did not clear them out of our seats and told me to go to the box office. We missed the start of the show, and were bothersome to all those around us by the time they finally got them out of our seats. The whole thing was embarrising. And if they had just given us our seats to begin with it would have been avoided.
