Bradenton's late-night chess club. We meet Sundays and Tuesdays from 8PM to midnight at Kava Social in downtown Bradenton — Sundays for open play, Tuesdays for study, working through books, puzzles, and grandmaster games together. What makes us different is the atmosphere. This is a social club that happens to play chess, not a tournament hall. Most of our members don't have a rating and nobody minds teaching. We also have tournament players and a National Master who plays regularly and is happy to sit down with beginners, so you can get a serious game or a lesson depending on what you're after. We're 21+, the venue is alcohol free — kava, coffee, teas and soft drinks — and we speak English and Spanish. Every game played at the club is recorded and rated, and the standings are public. We're a US Chess affiliate and run rated tournaments several times a year, open to 18 and over.
