The Bakken Museum Science Museum ·$

This museum and library is the first of its kind in the world. Located inside a historic mansion, The Bakken is a fun place to learn about the history of electricity and electromagnetism to its present use and form. It is home to a massive collection of articles, journals and scientific instruments related to this field. Many of the permanent exhibits are interactive; experience a jolt from a century-old electric machine or perhaps a visit to the Frankenstein's Laboratory will make your day. Other interesting spaces here are Ben Frankin's parlor and the library's luscious gardens. The Bakken makes for a great day out with family.

This was a really fun museum. It had areas for little kids to learn more about electricity, the Spark area gave a lot of opportunities for hands-on fun, and my older child LOVED the Mary Shelley experience. It inspired her to want to see Mary Shelley's museum in Bath, England when she and I went in August.I loved the power of sharing female stories rather than relegating them to the back seat. It was an empowering message for daughters, and taught boys about the breadth of humanity. What a great experience.

The exhibits were great and the employees were excellent. Especially Jim, who waited after the store closed so I could grab my jacket. It’s going to be hard to find a more enthusiastic guy for your museum. He definitely deserves a raise. Jim, is your reading this, thanks a lot!

This is such a beautiful historical building / setting, and the staff members were professional and personable. The museum is ideal for kids up to age 10. Not much there for older kids. My sons enjoyed it. However, I think it's too bad that the museum seems to offer a feminist agenda that uplifts women over men. (Only women scientist bios displayed in the Spark / project room, etc. )

Wonderful small museum that the entire family can enjoy. The Benjamin Franklin exhibit is really cool, the experiment room is great, the Mary Shelley exhibit is fantastic…many interactive things enjoyed by teens to younger children.

I went with my husband on a Saturday. It wasn’t too busy. We really enjoyed the Frankenstein show. The host on the second floor was very sweet and showed us how to do the electricity experiments. We enjoyed our selves and had fun.
