tripadvisorCity of Austin needs to address this problem. Over the years, we have taken many nice walks here. I CANNOT recommend this park as well as other Austin area parks since our car and many others were broken into. The MO is smash and grab. We had nothing of value but a passenger window was broken and the car searched for valuables. Unfortunate that we were had the expense and inconvenience during our vacation to repair and clean the car window.Only way to visit here or Mt Bonnell is to leave window down to signal nothing worth taking (except the car itself).
Morethis is a very good place for bouldering, it has large boulders to climb on, each has different difficulty.
MoreReally pretty area for a walk/hike. In town for work, I visited this park with coworkers and we hiked and looked at some pretty waterfalls. I read the reviews about car break ins, but was careful not to leave anything I care about in view. Nothing happened to my car nor my friend's cars. Visited on a hot Saturday. Take water.
MoreCame for a quick walk with the family, and returned to our car within 30 minutes to find someone had broken into the rear window and stolen a purse with everything inside. They even took our baby on board sign, which is either incredibly sad or terribly sick. Came here to find that this is a common occurrence.
MoreIf you go to this park, you will notice signs advising you to not leave valuables in your car. You will also notice broken auto glass in several places throughout the parking areas. Although the park is very scenic, car break-ins are rampant. On our third visit there, we became victims of this and have since found out that hundreds of cars a year get broken into at this park. Do yourself and your car a favor and avoid this park.
