tripadvisorWe were heading to Reno and had been on the road for a while already and got a quick bite to eat and wanted to sit outside in a park and we found this place. It was very clean, shady, comfortable and very relaxing. The weather outside was beautiful and not many people were enjoying the park. We stayed there for about an hour and enjoyed the place. It seems like a great family park with many options to keep busy.
MoreArbor Lodge park, situated across from the Chief Joseph school, in north Portland, is a great park for families, dog lovers, families with children with disabilities and anyone else. The park contains: tennis courts, baseball diamonds, an off-leash dog park, picnic tables and a special play area with equipment for children with special needs. This part of the park, called Harper's Playground, is named for a local child with disabilities.. I has a soft base instead of concrete or asphalt and some unique playground equipment, The park is maintained, pesticide free, by neighborhood volunteers. Weeds are removed without the use of any chemical based defoliant, such as Round-up. Each year, the Portland, Oregon Sunday Parkways event, a special event connecting multiple parks with bike-only street hours uses Arbor Lodge as one of the parks. There is live music, food trucks, and many business, non-profit and neighborhood booths. Other events in the park are the summer Movie In The Park event, the annual Arbor Lodge Neighborhood Association annual barbeque, where hundreds get free barbequed food as well as potluck sides, veggies, and desserts. This park is over 60 years old and is a neighborhood treasure.
