I really enjoyed visiting Jacob L. Loose Memorial Park! The rose garden was my favorite, and I loved walking the park's paths. There’s a nice mix of history, a few small bodies of water, and huge open green spaces that make it a peaceful place to wander and relax. During my visit, I even saw artists painting in the open spaces, which added to the park's charm. It’s easy to get to and has plenty of parking during the week. A lovely spot to enjoy nature, take a leisurely walk, or spend some quiet time outdoors!

I’m a local wedding photographer and shot a wedding here recently — Loose Park is such a great spot! The rose garden and fountain were absolutely stunning, and we lucked out with a perfect overcast day for photos (overcast is honestly a photographer’s dream, soft light everywhere). Couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop. Definitely recommend this place to any couple looking for beautiful photo spots on their wedding day.

While visiting one attraction after another on my daily sight-seeing trips, I always enjoy taking a restful break at one of the many public parks that usually are situated along the way. Look Loose Park, the third largest park in Kansas City. Located at 51st Street and Wornall Road, the 75-acre property was the site of the Battle of Westport in the Civil War. A cannon marks the spot where Confederate General Sterling Price is said to have commanded his forces from gun emplacements on what was to become the south end of the park. In 1897, it became a golf course. Finally, in 1925, when the golf club moved to Mission Hills, it became a city park. A year later, Ella Loose bought the property so that it could be made into a park to honor her husband, Jacob Loose, who founded the Loose-wiles Biscuit Company. Today, Loose Park contains a lake, a shelter house, Civil War markers, tennis courts, a water park, picnic areas, a Rose Garden that hosts all manner of outdoor special events, theatrical performances and wedding ceremonies, and the Japanese Tea Room and Garden. The centerpiece of the park, the Japanese Tea Room and Garden is a small traditional Japanese garden conceived and dedicated in 2006 as a cultural exchange between the sister cities of Kansas City and Kurashiki, Japan.

Terrible experience! One of my great friends, Aaron Branch went to the park a few years ago, and was greeted with the most disrespect he has ever witnessed by any species other than humans. He has already been growing up with so many problems and issues like being miss gendered. Upon arrival he wanted to go on a run, but with immediately jumped by ducks he can’t even look at the same anymore. He’s so afraid of them that all birds scare him he can’t even eat chicken. It’s very sad and it’s very devastating to see that’s all thanks to this park. Thank you so much for ruining my friends life.

The park is very well-kept and perfect for a walk. I imagine it looks even more beautiful in spring and summer, especially the rose garden. We were traveling with our dog, and it was great to spend some time in such a lovely setting. A wonderful place to relax!
