Louis Armstrong Park, made of grassy knolls and lagoons, is named after the world-famous musician and native son Louis Armstrong. His 12-foot (3.6 meters) statue, by Elizabeth Cartlett, is erected near the brightly lit entrance on the outer boundary of the French Quarter. Ironically, Armstrong was not allowed to play in the now well-known clubs during his career. The park is also home to a bust of jazz maestro Sidney Bechet and cornetist Buddy Bolden. Other landmarks including Congo Square and the Morris F.X. Jeff Municipal Auditorium surround the park.

tripadvisorNice park good benches and information
MoreNice bit of peace from the madness of the French Quarter. Enjoyed but it was getting dark when we were there and not sure what was called out to us by some people hanging around but we felt a little unsafe and left. Might just be over cautious.
MoreSadly, this was once an incredible place. This beautifully designed park has been basically abandoned. The once beautiful waterways are now green and slimy. The park structures are in need of repair and upkeep. It’s outside of a huge abandoned warehouse and is full of unwholesome people. The landscape is unkept and it’s just sad. Get it together New Orleans! Clean your act up!
MoreA large peaceful green space in the centre of the city, although while there is lots of statues and sculptures there isn’t too much more to do once there. There’s a few monuments and a good amount of seating but quite a bit of it felt neglected and it could be made so much more of an ‘attraction’. To get away from the bustle it’s worth taking a stroll through if you’re passing, but I probably wouldn’t recommend taking a detour for.
MoreLouis Armstrong sings my favorite song of all time. This is a lovely park dedicated to him and his contributions to music !
