tripadvisorThought we'd escape biting insects by walking late morning rather than in the evening but no such good fortune. Had to give up after 10 minutes. Evidence the park had been affected by the recent floods - mud ++ on parts of the hard surfaced paths near the start, and standing water (but it is a water meadows after all) and the river was still in flood. Agreed no views of the river which would have been nice.
MoreThis park is smaller and more unassuming that many of Connecticut's state parks. There are a couple of small parking lots, and then a direct path to the river, as this is a popular place to enter the river with your boat. However, directly to the right of the boating entrance is a flat, paved trail where you can walk, bike, walk your dog, etc. It's fairly scenic, although there's nowhere else to admire the river from the trail. There are picnic tables placed sporadically along the trail. The good thing about this park is that it seems relatively unknown, so it's not terribly crowded.
MoreThis park is a boat drop to the river, and a parking spot if you want to walk across the bridge. Not much else to it. I thought there would be good walking trails so I came with my dog, but the one trail I found was overrun and was flooded in an area and did not look like it continued. Not a good stop if youre looking to go walking or running. Locals come and park by the water and they may hang out in the gazebo
