We have visited this park several times over the years but recently took a 6 and 10 yr. old here for some entertainment. It is located in an older neighborhood in Leon Valley which is on the far west side of San Antonio between Loop 410 and Loop 1604 on Bandera Rd. The park is at the corner of Evers Rd. and Poss Rd.It is easy to find and wasn’t very crowded on a Sunday afternoon. There is limited parking slightly off the street for the picnic area and playground and pavilion. There is a larger parking lot with more picnic area, ball field, soccer field, and basket ball. The ballpark field had churned up sand but was usable. It has a small metal covered grandstand as well as two dugout areas.Close by the ballfield bathrooms is a really nice, large fenced community garden with lots of vegetation. There are bathrooms by the ball field and by the playground area. The playground is completely fenced and fairly good size with equipment for toddlers as well as older kids.On the day we visited a portion had a dead animal smell but might have been the garbage can that was located inside the play area. There is a concrete walking loop around the park for more exercise. The shade trees afford plenty of shade for the picnic tables.Since this is located by Leon Creek, portions do flood during heavy rains which there had been the week before we visited so there was some muddy areas.A great place to relax and let the kids play.

I grew up with the park. As a child, we would get tadpoles out of this creek. Now the park has a great playground for kids, including the old merry go round. Some of the slides can be very hot though on a sunny day. It also has a nice paved running/ walking path and a nature path. The park also host a community garden and has tennis and basketball courts. A great place for kids and adults! (This park is free).

I find Raymond Rimkus Park very ideal for a quick run. Lots of parking spaces. With two covered restrooms. Two drinking fountains. And you can visit the Huebner Onion Natural area for a dose of nature. While you're inside, take a look at Old Huebner gravesite
