This tiny French chapel was originally built in the 15th Century and moved stone-by-stone to the United States in 1927. It was reconstructed on Long Island after many protests from the French government, then it was eventually given to Marquette University and reconstructed once again, this time in Milwaukee. The chapel was officially dedicated to St. Joan of Arc on May 26, 1966 and today visitors make sure to stop by and appreciate this tiny gem.

tripadvisorA lovely stop on Marquette’s chapel. There was a docent there who told us all about the history of
MoreI was on a trip and wanted to see the Marquette campus. I used the St. Joan of Arc Chapel as a destination. I was pleased to find it open when the campus was basically closed for the winter break. Nobody hosting a tour but I was able to spend a little time in the chapel. Quite nice.
MoreIt is surreal to visit this piece of holy history smack in the middle of campus in Milwaukee. We could only look in the windows and read the plaques but that was sufficiently stimulating. This helps ground the religious backbone of an urban institution that otherwise isn't so visible on campus. While there, walk into some academic buildings - many of whch are renovated and quite nice. Watch where you park your car anddon't leave valuables in plain sight.
MoreOn Marquette University campus. Worth a stop if you like history or churches. There was a gentleman answering questions the day we visited, a Monday afternoon.
MoreThis nice chapel has a great spot overlooking the large green space. It is said to have been from old time France and shipped here and rebuilt which is different. It’s a cute little church.
