I've been in AZ nearly a decade now and finally went to a show at Mesa Amphitheatre. I go to a lot of shows, but for some reason, Mesa Amp. doesn't really get a lot of shows. Finally, there was a show I wanted to see - The Human League, Soft Cell and Alison Moyet!The show was in mid-June and that means weather in AZ can go any which way. It's possible it could be nice & pleasant. It's also possible it could be very, very hot, as it was that evening. I do think the hot weather sometimes keeps people away from these outdoor shows. I think the venue holds around 5K, and maybe it was about half full for this show. But I think that could have been higher had it been a more tolerable day weather-wise. All of the artists (all from the 80s and 60+ in age...) were absolute troopers because it didn't really look like the stage had much in the way of fans and/or AC to help keep them as cool as possible. I honestly don't know how they did it! The show must go on...The venue is actually really, really nice, and I truly don't know why they don't have more performances there. There have been plenty of shows I've seen at Talking Stick Amphitheater that vastly under-sold to the point of the lawn area closing and only one parking lot being open. Under-selling shows at Talking Stick would no doubt be sellouts (or very close to it) at Mesa Amp! The downside to Mesa Amp, as beautiful as it is, is that it is completely open. That being said, I think Mesa Amp would benefit quite a bit from some refurbishment...maybe add a roof of some sort to help give everyone some much needed shade in AZ. It's a shame to see a nice venue go to waste, a bit. I think more artists would consider Mesa Amp for tours if some modernization & weather-related improvements are made to it sometime soon!Also, ticket prices - ticket prices at Mesa Amp seem insane as compared to ticket prices at other venues in the area. Tone it down a notch on pricing, and more people will go to shows - yes, even in hot weather.

Have always enjoyed this fine venue. The music has always been eclectic so, there's lots of choices.

Awesome concert. But the venue We will never go back too much added bs. Last minute time us we had to pay for my two and three year old. Wouldn't be an issue is the dirty nine dollar tickets sixty eight after all of their extra added bs fees. No blankets no coolers no chairs. No outside food

We saw Dropkick Murphys & Flogging Molly here and though I'm a fan of small venues, this one needs some improvements before I'd go back. First, the parking is HORRENDOUS! They need to build a parking structure on the parking lot across the street. Second, they need to install some fans to blow all the freakin' smoke out of the bowl that is the amphitheater. I've been to a few others and none hold the smoke like this one does. We had to walk up to the top, away from our awesome seats, because it was so bad. Or even better, how about a smoking area away from the seats? With that said, the bathrooms were immaculate (a big thing!) and the lines for anything were never really bad. This could be so much more, if they fixed those two things.

Awful Experience, Show great, parking Lousy! I'll refer you to those previous reviews, Nothing has changed since they were written, It never crossed my mind to check reviews prior. I should have. Parking is pitiful. Sitting in a line of cars waiting to enter the adjacent lot we decided after several minutes of not moving to make a turn and find parking in the neighborhood nearby. Luckily for we us found a spot about a mile from the venue. We are walkers so it did not matter too much. As we walked back to the venue the car that was just in front of us in the previoulsy mentioned line had scarcely moved. Seating is horrible. You are crammed, as another reviewer says, like sardines. The ushers were so unfamiliar with the venue they had difficulty directing patrons to seating. We paid $79 each to see the Phoenix Symphony with the music of Pink Floyd. Our seats were basically on one level, not stadium tiered and, forgive me, a mountain sat in front of my wife totally blocking her view of the stage. The sound was terrific, there was no fault with that. The performance was mediocre but we are talking about the facility not the performers. Lest I forget, we stood in a long line to enter, upon security checking our bag, we were told no umbrellas, well nowhere that I can find, not on the sandwich board sign listing prohibited items nor on our ticket was that listed. Well you can put your umbrella over there with the rest of them or take it back to your car. We were told. I freaking think not. Our small umbrellas were quite costly and fit perfectly in backpacks for travel. So my 65 year old wife hoofed it back the two miles plus round trip to and from our car. Then we got to stand in that long line again. Luckily it did not rain leaving the venue or we'd be really irate. It was a rare rainy evening in Mesa. The likelyhood of returning is minimal. Unfortunately too because the venue has the possibility of being a first class entertainment venue.
