Bird Cage Saloon Bar & Pub ·$$

The Birdcage Saloon is one of many watering-holes located along Prescott's Montezuma Street or more affectionately known as 'Whiskey Row'. Like many other bars on this strip, the Birdcage has loads of history, and though it may not be as old as the granddaddy of Arizona bars, The Palace, it still has plenty to offer. Behind the historic mahogany and cherry bar, guests will find a full panoply of drinks, from whiskey to wine everything is available.

Veterans, people with disabilities and service animals… stay away. I was forced to leave due to my medical alert service animal for I refused to be forced to seat where bartender wanted me to on a clear violation of the American Disabilities Service Act. Female bartender was insulting and disrespectful. I asked her for a refund, refused. Security was rude but turned polite after I explained. Regardless I was forced to leave. STAY AWAY. Unfortunate a nice place ruined by rude bartender and discrimination.

We stopped in because there was no one inside and the bartender looked lonely. In its defense it was a Thursday night in September. David the bartender was so nice and welcoming. I am not much of a drinker so I gave him permission to make up something based on my likes… and he did a great job! We stayed about 1.5 hours playing pool and chatting with others who wandered in. They do have some nights with live music and different themes so I’m sure it is hopping in the summer. This is a CASH ONLY bar but there is an ATM inside. It is a little run down as far as the pool table and seating but the atmosphere and David the bartender makes up for it

Horrible service. Very rude employees. Most people we met downtown Prescott were so friendly, but this was by far worst experience. They were not busy, older lady behind the bar was extremely rude. Guy coming into the place was just as bad. After encounter with lady behind the bar we just walked out and went a couple doors down to a much friendly and nicer environment.

We just stopped in for one drink while exploring Whiskey Row. There was a good band playing. Very busy place -- cash only!

An Historic Saloon on Whiskey Row In October, I was exploring downtown Prescott, and had started just after breakfast. I was walking down famed Whiskey Row, and spotted The Bird Cage Saloon. It looked interesting, so I went in for a late morning beer, as the wine list did not tempt me, but then The Bird Cage IS a “saloon.” I sat at the bar, and think they had just opened, as the bartender was still doing some setup. I was not the first patron of the day, but one of the first. The interior is rather dark, but I think that is in keeping with the whole saloon theme. Also, I got the feeling that The Bird Cage cranks up much later in the day. Service was good, as was the beer. I noticed that all folk, both the few patrons and the servers were wearing masks. I did not see hand sanitizer, but might have missed that? Fun, for about a 30 min. stop for beer.
