Noir Cocktail Bar ·$$

Contemporary decor meets gourmet food at this Charles Hotel diner. The drinks are deliciously innovative and noir's Boudoir and other signature martinis are worth the tab. The food is done to perfection but the portions are not very pleasing. Sandwiches, salads, steaks, and an assortment of small plates do justice to the hype. For a romantic night out, noir certainly scores over most places; the chic establishment is famous for its cocktails and cozy couples.

This place is awesome. Great place to go for drinks and food. The bartenders are so personal and know how to make so many drinks

Truth? I've been going to Noir since I was in my early twenties. Needless to say, as I've gotten older, my travels to this bar were less frequent. One night while out to dinner with girlfriends, we revisited our old haunt. Noir has a cool vibe and in the summer has great outdoor seating. The drinks are good and are priced accordingly for a Cambridge hotel. So I want to say this was a great experience and give it 5 stars, but our waitress is preventing me from doing so. Our waitress, while very friendly and attentive, smelled so incredibly bad it was difficult to talk to her. It was a hot summer day and she was obviously someone who preferred a more natural hygiene routine. Her legs, in a black dress, were un-shaved. Truthfully, this didn't bother me so much as I believe that is a personal choice. But she clearly wasn't wearing any deodorant and we actually had to turn our heads or cleverly cover our faces when ordering from her. Noir is an upscale bar in a trendy and expensive Cambridge hotel so I would expect that management would be more strict about this kind of thing, but I guess not.

Stopped here for old fashion cocktail and dessert. Can't go wrong with this place. If the bar at Grendel's Den is standing room only you can get a seat or swanky booth in this hotel bar. Don't let the fact this is a bar at a hotel fool ya. Lots of locals and interesting folks. Try the cheesecake.
