The New "Live the El Rey" Series The El Rey Theater has a long history of showcasing the best music in Albuquerque. Now, with the partnership of Puccini Productions, we thought it was time to start documenting these incredible performances! We will be choosing the best of the local and national musicians that have graced the stage of The Historic El Rey Theater to be recorded live and added to a compilation CD available near the end of the year. Proceeds from CD sales will benefit Puccini Productions, a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) Non Profit Corporation. The chosen artists will also have the opportunity to take away from the performance a finished studio-quality CD made possible by the extreme skill, generosity, and hard work of our in-house sound technician Markus Adams of InRoom Sound. Don't forget! The lot behind us is not our lot. If you do not pay, the owner will boot your car and demand a ransom of $100 to remove the boot or will tow you if you do not pay the ransom! Do not let this happen to you. We recommend parking on the street if possible or across the street at "Park It Place" on 6th and Central, which is well-lit and much safer. Puccini Productions is a non-profit organization. We are currently accepting tax-deductible donations. Puccini Productions also has many great sponsors! Please take the time to visit and support these fine establishments, listed at the bottom of our website.

tripadvisorWe went to see jack septicemia here. The show was wonderful but the theater is horrible. The chairs were uncomfortable, there felt like there was no air conditioning. It was sold out so there were a lot of people in it. It just needs to be torn down and rebuilt. I was embarrassed for Jack to even be in it. He is from England and has toured all over the US. This was probably his worst venue yet. I’m glad I’m not from New Mexico or I would have been really embarrassed. Get rid of the place or remodel just don’t have any more shows there.
MoreSaw The Marshall Tucker band there tonight. This place looks like a dilapidated fire trap with floors you would expect in a bath house. Dark and gloomy with little to no chairs. The acoustics were so bad I left after 5 songs. This place is as bad as it gets. Am disgusted I wasted my time there.
MoreWe went to El Reg Theater Thursday, May 11, 2017. We stayed in line from 4pm around 5pm since we had meet and greet tickets. As we got into the show early the place had an off putting smell to it. What made it better however was when my bf had to take medication as scheduled. The bar or anything was not open but as we asked a worker there if there was a water fountain or where we could buy a water for him to take his medication he helped us immediately and brought us a water. However what seemed uncomfortable was the fact that drinks were not allowed on the concert floor, we could not bring water back down if we went up the small stairway with it. Also the huge rip off how they brought in Little Ceaser's Pizza in front of everyone and was selling it as $3 dollars a slice heated by a lightbulb. I enjoyed the show very much since that was the point of our trip to Albuquerque but not a fan of the venue and disorganization of tickets. We bought Meet and greet tickets but their scan machine couldn't read our code on my phone since my tickets were will call so i had to go to the ticket line were people started to yell at us for cutting even though we paid for better tickets and were there hours before them plus we couldn't get a good spot as expected because how long they took and let others go in front that didn't have will call tickets.
MoreTook my daughter to see Pierce the Veil on the 9th for her birthday. The theater packed the entire building capacity into one room. It was so packed we couldn't even get in. My daughter and I sat in the hallway and listened to the concert. Paid almost $80 and drove 200 miles to sit in the hallway. Worst experience we've ever had. Will not be returning to this venue. We will stick to places that don't endanger the lives of everyone in the building.
MoreThere are three levels filled with folding chairs. If you sit in the first row of chairs on the second or third level - you can see the stage. Otherwise, you have a great view of the back of some's head. The bar, which is located on the third level, stayed open during the performance. This was noisy and distracting. Add to that, the theater did not dim the lighting in the third level to support the bar, making it hard to see the stage. My suggestion to the El Rey Theater management is to close the bar during a performance.
