Significant as a landmark building in downtown ABQ. I was built in 1924 as an office building and a movie theater. It has been renovated a few times and currently is a venue for music and was registered as National Register of Historic Places in 1985. If you happen to be in the area, just stop by to snap a shot or two of a landmark building that is still functioning to serve the public.

Sometimes my city lacks of shows, thankfully Albuquerque is close, I love that this venue holds awesome tours, but reality is this, the security here sucks and so does some staff, I know is their work to make sure you don't die and that you don't cause problems, but seriously this place is the equivalent to having the police inside. I had the opportunity to be in shows in LA, Baltimore, NYC, Chicago, El Paso, just to mention a few and this place is ruined by the security, yes they have an awesome sound set, they have a good set up for the shows, but seriously I prefer not going to a show due to the security and the immaturity of the staff, and if a staff member is reading this, well go to hell!

My first experience here left a lot to be desired. I have seen thousands of shows in hundreds of venues, so I speak from a lot of experience. The security here is over-the-top and definitely impacts your enjoyment of the show. My purse was checked and I was patted down. That's okay, but when asked what they were looking for, I was told lighters, cigarettes. Really? I didn't know lighters and cigarettes were illegal. Pretty ridiculous. Also, you get a stamp upon entering but then you cannot leave, even for a breath of fresh air after getting overheated from dancing. No beverages are allowed on the open floor area in front of the band. You have to show your stamp to get into the performance area and again upon entering (and leaving, for crying out loud) the open floor area up front. So if you want to have a drink while enjoying the show, you have to go into a cordoned off area. I've NEVER been in such a prohibited place when seeing a show. I don't know what the reasoning is behind the heavy-handed security, but it certainly doesn't make me want to go back. As far as the sound quality, it sounded pretty darn good when I was standing behind the sound board (while quickly drinking my TEN DOLLAR vodka and cranberry while my friends were up on the dance floor, where I was not allowed to be with my drink). Drink prices were outrageous (especially after paying $25 to walk in the door). Sound was a bit muddy on the floor area up front. For some reason, the balcony was closed, so didn't get to hear how it sounded up there. The owners of the venue could have a dynamite place to see a show, but they don't seem to know what it takes to make sure the customer has a good time. While I'll probably go back (since good bands come to this venue), I will think twice before doing so and may skip some shows for that very reason. It would be awesome if someone else would take it over and run it like it should be run. Anyone, anyone...?

You get what you pay for I guess. The concert was crowded and a bit ridiculous. Cheap to see an act but save your money for a decent venue with seats!

LOVE bands to come here! Its the real experience! You can get up close and meet the band members. I have met many bands and gotten their autographs.
