The Payne Arena as it is now named, sponsored by a major area auto dealer has a repeated security problem. This causes visitors that arrive 20 minutes before the show to not gain entrance until after the music starts. This is not the first time I have witnessed the disorganized security at the Payne Arena, but last night's Ana Gabriel's concert was the worst. Security personnel are insufficient in number, poorly trained, and over-whelmed. There is only one person per entrance and not a supervisor in sight. At one station, people streamed thru the walk-through metal detector while the red light flashed like a strobe. No back-up was available to the young attendant. At another station the handheld metal detector was not functional, and the young lady resorted to hand pat downs of male and female (ineffective and grounds for a lawsuit!) Anybody could have carried a weapon in that mess.The flow of foot traffic fails in the organization department with a huge back up on one side and no indication to spread the load over all entry points. The Payne Arean organizers must know this as concerts are a regular feature here. Why don't they do something?Lastly the Payne Arena Box Office has the audacity to charge a 10% service fee. For what? Lousy service? Months ago, we purposely went to the box office to purchase tickets. I've never been charged a service fee at the venue box office before! I guess it is okay for the Payne Arena to be in the same scam category as the ticket scalpers. I wonder how that works on the price of Payne automobiles.My advice: If you are a customer, come early.If you are Mr. Payne, smarten up your security officer or security contractor.If you were an on-duty security person I hope you got paid enough to compensate for the trauma.

The Rio Grande Valleys local arena. Serves as our primary venue for hosting major events and class act entertainment! The fact that the arena is a medium sized arena means that all seats get a great view of the venue!!!!

I felt packed like a sardine for the concert we attended. The sound was weird too I couldn’t understand when Elton sang as well as I should have because the music overpowered him.

This venue serves the RGV and hosts a couple of minor league sport teams. One of them (RGV Vipers - NBA D-league) is moving to a bigger arena. While you can see well pretty much wherever you sit, the place is a little dingy. Word of advice...go during Borderfest in March. Lots of good food, music, and rides.

Attended Banda MS Concert on Saturday February 8, 2018. It was a great overall concert. The Stadium was clean and the staff was great.
