My husband and I started taking lessons in April 2017 in preparation for our first wedding dance later that year (August). During those 4 months we were able to secure a very affordable package that included a bundled cost of private and group lessons. Our instructor, Carolyn, gave us a strong understanding of the fundamentals and helped craft a beautiful routine for our song, L-O-V-E. We had never taken a dance class before, and by our wedding date we had not only beautiful videos taken of our first dance, but a couples activity to continue after the big day. We have been taking lessons since then and have had the opportunity to continue learning with Carolyn as well as with other teachers in the studio (Zach, Kelsey, Sarah, and Daniel). We have had the opportunity to progress further in our foxtrot and swing routines as well as learn new traditional dance routines (hustle, rumba, salsa, waltz, tango) as well as fun, unique routines as well (like in peabody!). We cannot say enough about this studio. This place provides us as a couple to learn a skill together and to trust each other, which has really helped our relationship continue to grow. This studio also provides an extremely strong community of local dancers at every level. The experiences created here have been worth every penny that we have spent.

About a year ago my boyfriend and I decided to give dance lessons a try, as I have been dying to learn a little more social and ballroom dancing and how to dance a variety of different dances. We were warmly greeted and quickly felt like family there. I loved the energy every time we came in for a lesson, and everyone was always enjoying themselves. We had a personalized plan for what dances we wanted to learn based on our personal preferences. This plan wasn't set in stone, and we had as much say as we wanted in what we wanted to work on/learn, but were still guided in a teaching style that balanced our strengths, goals, and and of course focused on having fun! There were many socials and dance classes that we could attend outside of our once a week dance lessons, and there were many opportunities to work with world-class dance instructors. This studio really worked with us during scheduling conflicts, and worked around our busy schedule. Carolyn, the manager and the instructor we worked with the most, is obviously very passionate about what she does, and puts so much energy towards making sure her clients have the best possible experience at the studio. No matter what you are looking for when visiting this studio, she will help guide you to where you want to be. The only reason we did not continue our lessons were budgetary and time restraints. However in any future life-event where I will need to brush up or learn more about social and ballroom dance, there is no other place I would go to than Fred Astaire Dance Studio! If you are on the verge, I would highly recommend giving them a call and coming in for an introductory course.

This place, Fred Astaire Columbus Northwest, is awesome and the instructors are fabulous. I have met all of the instructors here at this dance studio and each of them have something special to teach you. My family were in town over the Christmas holidays visiting friends & family when we stopped by this dance studio and everyone especially the Owner were very welcoming. I had a short but very fun and exciting lessons of Waltz, Foxtrot, and Cha-cha with Zach. I’ve had very little experience dancing in the past but Zach made it real easy for me as if I knew how to dance. There were some stubborn steps that I kept missing but he was able to instruct me well so that I was able to get it in such a short time. That’s why I believe that the quality of instructors here are superb because whether you’re a beginner or advanced, they adjust to your level to help you be better. Not only do they really know their dance moves but they know how to teach it well which is fantastic. It’s totally worth your time & money. You’ll definitely have fun too while you’re learning if you enjoy dancing. I would most certainly recommend taking lessons here!

Who me? Are you kidding -- I can't dance !?! ... Well, that's what I used to think about my dance ability. So I have to admit I'm the last person to ever think I could learn to dance -- let alone have fun doing it! I was a very reluctant dancer -- it took my friends and wife a long time to convince (coerce?!?) me to go to the studio with them for a group dance party. Once there, however, I was pleasantly surprised - I was immediately put at ease and they taught me if I can walk then I could learn to dance! Over two years later, I'm taking regular lessons and have competed in several regional and national competitions - I would never have imagined this would be possible. The instructors at Fred Astaire Columbus Northwest (Carolyn, Zach, Daniel, Dwayne) are fun, outgoing, talented, very professional and incredibly patient. Believe me, if they can teach me to dance, they can teach anyone to dance! Besides learning to dance Waltz and Tango (which I have always wanted to learn), the other benefits of this amazing studio are a great social environment with many new friends I've met. I've also much improved my self-confidence, gracefulness, balance, posture and have lost a lot of weight(!). Now that I've discovered the world of ballroom dance, it has become a life-long passion for me. All I can say is: Just get yourself in past the front door and see what new fabulous universe awaits you!

When I am anywhere near Columbus, I make sure to have time to enjoy the festivities at the studio and of course take a lesson with one of the staff. You can come as a single and you will find not only the instructors asking you to dance, but so do the students. The love of dance will make you feel welcome.
