Spent a wonderful Saturday morning (15 Aug 15) at Harmony Trails in Dalton, MA. Had an excellent 90 minute trail ride in the mist-covered Berkshire Mountains on and near the Appalachian Trail with my 14-year-old daughter Lauren and a couple of new friends; steeds Shannon, Patches and Belle along with instructor Ms Sherry. This was an exceptional experience with a wonderful guide and instructor Ms Sherry who was attentive to the needs of riders and horses as well as extremely safety conscious. Many, many thanks for a great August trail ride.

Took our children for a trail ride and was very impressed at how our guide handled my 9 year old's last-minute fears and anxieties. We were all saddled up and ready to go and then she said she didn't want to go! Patiently and cheerfully Sherry put her on the gentlest horse (altho they all were) and talked her up into the saddle. By the end of the hour of a ride through meadows scented with wild thyme and cool forest she was having a blast! A great confidence builder and a unique way to see the beautiful countryside.

This was such a wonderful experience!! We called a day before and arranged for an hour ride the next day at 10:00am. The place was easy enough to find using GPS and Sheri (the owner) was so nice! We hadn't been on horses since we were kids so basically had no knowledge about riding. She picked out the right horses for us and was great with giving instructions before we went and along the ride, by the end of the ride I felt like an expert! She gave a great tour on the horses through beautiful woods and fields, and she was ahead of us enough that she provided instructions, but also gave us a little privacy. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful or fun experience! Oh and she also was great about snapping some pictures for us and then texting them to us afterwards, that was a definite plus since we wanted to document the day!

the road/trail up to the place is not to car friendly, 4 wheel drive will get up but sherry will come down to get you if you call or you can walk up. its very laid back and friendly, various chickens etc as well as the horses. nothing fancy about the place .just well cared for horses and a woman who knows horses. i took the hour long ride with two other people as well as sherry, the ride was wonderful. the prices are very good and i would do it again for sure.

I was skeptical about this activity because of the lack of reviews and because it was not featured in our hotel guide, but we are so glad we did it. Sherry, the owner, makes you feel right at home once you get there. She let us meet the horse and pet them before we started our tour. It was my husband's first time and I hadn't been on a horse for over 15 years, and Sherry took the time to teach us the basics so we could be and feel safe. We rode our horses for about an hour over some interesting trails. These horses know what they are doing, so does Sherry. We were comfortable enough to make them trot, which as awesome! We got some nice pictures and the experience of a life time. Make sure you were long pants because some trails have branches sticking out, thorns and even poison ivy. Wear bug spray too!
