I took my family for a Lake Merritt Tour on Segways! Segway of Oakland tour guides are polite and courteous and really made our experience awesome. They have other tours too. Im going to try a segway tour at Joaquin Miller park next time.

Impossible to book a tour when calls go to voice mail and they don't call you back - tried three times in 3 days. Disappointing

I had first hand experience watching these Segways push aside pedistrians walking around Lake Merritt and scaring the birds in the sanctuary. I also saw one of their employees cuss out a lady when she asked him not to ride on the grass. It can't be that much fun to be rude and annoying to the rest of us trying to enjoy the lake!

This was a great way of getting use to segways! Patient and helpful tour guides carefully showed us a wide range of Oakland, CA. The guide, however, should have had a microphone and discussed more details about the area.

This was meant to be an adventure--something I had always wanted to try with like-minded friends. It turned out to be so much fun, I look forward to doing it again. The training involved was simpler than I expected and having time to get familiar with the Segway gave me the confidence to go out and about Oakland. Being able to explore the new parts around Lake Merritt was a bonus, and we got to see the dragon boat races on a beautiful sunny day. Our little group garnered a lot of attention as we rolled around, with our guide Alex. Safety is a high consideration on their part, so I felt fine going on the streets of Chinatown, through Jack London Square, and up to city hall. After a little while, operating the Segway becomes intuitive and you don't have to think about controlling it. If you've always wanted to try one, this is the place to go. If I could, I'd buy my own Segway and roll off into the sunset.
