tripadvisorAs a former middle school science teacher for 31 years, I have never experienced a place like this! My family had to practically drag me out of there! Things to experience for all interests and age groups. As a grandparent, I wished this existed when our kids were growing up. You can tell that Iowa puts a lot of thought into the next generation of kids!
MoreI wet to the Science Center with my daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren, ages 11, 8 and almost 6. We had a great time! I thought I'd taken more pictures but I guess I was too busy having fun and learning things. Great favorites included making and launching your own paper rockets, a room with vats of soap bubble solution and giant bubble wands and the weather station where you could see yourself on camera pointing to a weather map. My son and daughter-in-law bought an annual pass so I know we'll be back!
MoreIt was a good experience! There were a few exhibits on the main and upper floors to keep kids (and kids at heart) busy for a couple hours. The planetarium and shows were excellent and very informative!
MoreWe got in for free using our home science museum pass, but this was my least favorite of the museums we've been to recently. Not as many interactive exhibits as others, so the ones we did find where kids can use their hands to do things are pretty crowded. Overall fun if you want to take your kids somewhere interesting for a few hours.
MoreLimited attractions and exhibits.Visited with 10yr old granddaughter for about 1-1/2 hr. Cost $41 plus $3 parking , no cafe only vending. It was mostly workshop activities which engaged her during her visit but seemed basic in my eyes compared to other venues of this type. The omni theater had an interesting moon film.Perhaps not fair, but in my opinion seems undered funded and under loved.
