tripadvisorThey have redeveloped this big theater into a couple of venues. We went to a show in the space that used to be the balcony, now good for a modest production. Good space for what we saw, but the chop-up removed the big ceiling and the grandeur of the big theater. Practical, but the design was sacrificed.
MoreAttended a concert last evening by the fairly new San Francisco Philharmonic, which featured Beethoven's Fifth. I won free tickets in a contest and was positively impressed. In my many decades I San Francisco, I believe this was my first visit. The recently restored auditorium was glorious. The murals were particularly noteworthy; I loved their vibrant colors. Great lighting, good acoustics, and comfortable seating added to the enjoyment of the beautiful surroundings. I'm glad I got to have this experience.
MoreIn the middle of the Civic Center performing arts center, this lovely old fashioned theater houses lots of performances and other purposes. We've been here many times and always enjoyed good site lines. If there is something scheduled here to your taste, do not hesitate. Lots of good food behind it in Hayes Valley.
MoreWe were here for a TEDx conference and it was an amazing venue. Gorgeous design, excellent acoustics and lighting.
MoreOne night only! Fantastic show for Edith Piaf fans. If this show comes to your town book immediately as it sells out within in hours. Herbst theatre has been retrofitted and has not lost anything of its charm or exceptional aucostic. Highly recommend the Herbst Theater and SFJazz centre.
