tripadvisorA couple of friends and I just went to the Melodarama. We've been coming here for years. We used to go when it was in Oildale on China Grade Loop. We always enjoy the shows and Always have fun. So much so, we all bought Season Tickets. Good family fun also. Thank you Melodrama for great, clean entertainment.
MoreWe went to the gaslight melodrama theater and really had an interesting time. Though it was a little pricy for a night of entertainment it was very close to being worth the price of admission. I did however think it was a little tacky to pull out the tip jar at the end of the evening.
MoreWe went to the Gaslight Theatre for a melodrama, and it was everything that you would expect a melodrama to be, which means it was simple fun. It was always clear who the good and bad characters were, and the audience participated fully in cheering the good characters, booing and hissing the bad characters, and sighing for romance. We had tickets front and center, and that was a great place to be for the show. Given the size of the theater, however, I don't believe that there was a bad seat in the house. The night we were there included a musical marriage proposal that the cast helped with, and that was one of the highlights of the evening. So, if you're looking for some light-hearted fun, this is a great choice.
MoreWent with two other couples on a Saturday night. Place was packed, so clearly a popular destination. The performance was a hoot, great singing, hilarious characterizations, really fun energy in the cast and audience. They really bring the audience into the experience also. Definitely recommend for date night, friends night out, just for a good time any old time.
MoreWe were lucky to get some tickets at the last minute for their Buttonwillow Blues production. We had never been to the Gaslight before, but heard great things about it on Tripadvisor. Parking was no problem when we arrived. It is a small, intimate theatre. Guests sit at small cafe tables with 4 chairs. So if you are a party of 2, you may share your table with some new friends. The theatre is so small that all seats are good seats....There is a snack bar where guests can purchase some snacks and drinks to eat while enjoying the show. I thought the cast did a great job with the show, but found the story line less impressive. After the main show, the cast did a revival of American Bandstand. It was hilarious and very, very entertaining! I actually enjoyed it more than the show. I hope to attend again the next time we are in Bakersfield!
