tripadvisorStudio at 620 tries to be for the community - & they do it very well. The events are wide ranging, the gallery art is not just one genre, & the support of small local craftsmen at the (pick a holiday) bazaars is wonderful. have been there numerous times. Will keep going back.
Morethis is a quirky playhouse - they have quite varied offerings - everything from original plays to a live old fashioned radio show once a month - small seating area so you feel like you are par of the action
MoreI went to this theatre for the first time today, to see the debut of an original play called Gladiola. I didn't realize it was general seating, but it didn't matter as the space was small and intimate. This is community theatre at its best. We were greeted by two lovely ladies and told to help our selves to the few snacks they had (including cookies still warm from the oven), and the bar served pop and wine for a nominal fee. When is the last time you went to theatre and were offered anything for free? Yummy cookies by the way. The space is filled with art from various artist, and it was a great way to explore the space while awaiting the start of the play. The play was brilliant, and well acted, the set design simple but gave the sense of an entire house in a cozy atmosphere. The bonus was the entire cast, director and playwright were available after the show to discuss the making of the show and answer any questions. What a rare opportunity to speak to the actors about their part of the project, and learn from the playwright how she wrote and launched this show. The play ends before this review will be published, but I would highly recommend attending other theatre productions at this venue. I enjoy quite a bit of theatre, but this is one of the rare moments that it wasn't just what was on stage but the experience in it's entirety that made for a lovely night out.
