tripadvisorThe staff is incredible. Johnnie warmly welcomed me and showed me around. And gifted me with some yummy treats. Tanner, my massage therapist, was so great. I’d been feeling stiff and sore before the massage and Tanner fixed me! So much so that I booked another session the next day. The people are the best part of this spa. The steam room wasn’t working but the sauna was and they offered a whole line of vanity products
MoreThis is hands down one of the overall best spas in America, and I'm usually very very picky. The incredibly sweet and warm Miss Johnnie gave me a tour of the facilities before my appointment began, and everything looked IMMENSELY INVITING and top notch!!!! I felt like I was on a resort at the Maldives Islands or something. I could have easily hung out there in the Men's Section for hours just reading a book in perfect peace and tranquility - while all the other facilities are ABSOLUTELY ON A PAR with spas I've been to in Hollywood, California! :) Magnolia Spa is basically where THE BEST OF SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY meets the MOST SERENE OF SPA SPACES. I had to head to the airport just a few hours after getting my massage, because I live in New York, but it was a very very sad feeling leaving because if I lived in Savannah, I would be coming here AT LEAST once a month if not more. Miss Johnnie is the perfect person to run a place like this, and everything she says and does is straight from the heart - there is no fake politeness or rehearsed customer service here. TANNER THE MASSAGE THERAPIST was *BEYOND INCREDIBLE*. WOW - this guy has *THE MIDAS TOUCH* and I felt really really lucky to book his final treatment for the day. He really really applies himself to his work 200% EVERY SINGLE MINUTE, making it 80 minutes of THERAPEUTIC BLISS. Not for a second did he just slack off or go on autopilot. Top to bottom, I would say he went out of his way to give me the BEST and MOST THOROUGH AND COMPREHENSIVE massage I've had in forever!!!!!! Like Goldilocks, he always wanted to make sure the pressure was just right for me, and he kept checking in - while also being very quiet the rest of the time, in order to let me savor the experience. HIS HANDS DID ALL THE TALKING, which is exactly how it SHOULD be at a massage. The room itself was perfect - I couldn't find a single complaint. The temperature was IDEAL and the FACE CRADLE felt like it was *MADE FOR ME* - whereas sometimes it takes a long time just to adjust to the face cradle. Now in case you're thinking this review is too good to be true, I will be 100% honest - if I had to find ONE thing in the entire spa that I didn't like, it was the bathrobe, which wasn't quite as fluffy and plush as I would've liked, considering how IMMACULATE the *REST* of the spa was, but I was MORE THAN HAPPY to just wear a *SUPER COMFY* TOWEL and keep my T-shirt on until Tanner came to get me, because there is *PLENTY OF SPACE* in the therapy rooms to hang and keep all your stuff. :) Of course, there are very secure locker spaces to store everything else. The SLIPPERS they provided were also VERY COMFORTABLE - and you will have ALL THE WATER you will *EVER NEED* to drink, both before and after the treatment!!!! To say I was made to feel like I was *HOME* would be an understatement, and even my little quibble about the bathrobe is more like going back home and telling your mother that maybe it's time to toss out JUST ONE THING in an otherwise heavenly zone. :) Please, please do yourself a favor and BOOK YOURSELF A TREATMENT here if you're in Savannah - I would WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend Tanner for a massage, and trust me you want too book an EIGHTY MINUTE SESSION versus a 50 minute session. Your body will be grateful for it. It was worth everything, and I rounded out the 22% gratuity that is included to 25% because I feel like Tanner went out of his way as a therapist, and Miss Johnnie definitely went the extra mile herself as hostess.
MoreMy husband and I booked a couples massage at Magnolia Spa to celebrate our anniversary while on a trip to Savannah. In the last 15-20 years I have had upwards of 30+ massages, and I have to say this was by far the worst. I rarely, if ever, feel compelled to leave reviews (especially not negative reviews) because I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt (they might have been having a bad day, not feeling well, something going on outside of work, etc.) but my husband’s experience was exactly the same. When it came time to pay, they automatically added a 22% charge as a tip for the massage therapist, which is fine and I would normally tip in addition to that, but for a total of $435 for a 50 minute massage that was essentially someone wiping oil on my body with a flat palm, I couldn’t fathom adding anything additionally. We also arrived early and signed our forms quickly and made it into the room at exactly our start time, but with introductions and changing we didn’t start until 8 or so minutes in, and they started the clock when we entered, so the massage itself wasn’t even the full 50 minutes. As I mentioned before, I never like leaving negative reviews, but for the price we paid, I’m hoping others don’t end up in this same position.
MoreThis spa was wonderful. The staff (we met Johnnie and Betsy; both thumbs up for each therapist!)were attentive, so polite and kind. There is a lovely sauna and steam room to use after or before treatments and while we were there the spa wasn’t crowded. We almost had the place to ourselves. This is a great place to relax, recharge and treat yourself!
MoreMy experience at Magnolia Spa was Absolutely Amazing!!!! I was greeted warmly by Johnnie who took excellent care of me the entire time. The spa is so relaxing and serene. From the plush robes and slippers to the relaxation room, everything was clean, soothing and tranquil. I thoroughly enjoyed my service and equally important the suggestions offered for wellness and self care. I will definitely be back :-)
