The Montessori classroom allows students to explore their environment with their hands. Respect for the materials and each other are built into the lessons. We practice Grace and Courtesy to learn how to be good citizens. Originally developed by Italian physician Dr. Maria Montessori, the Montessori approach to learning invites the student to use their senses and interact with sensorial and child-sized materials. The geography, botany, and zoology lessons fill the learning environment with rich language. Maintaining a 6:1 ratio between students and staff allows for one-to-one interactions, creating a nurturing environment that allows students to flourish and learn. Small group lessons help to create a classroom where students are aware of each other and their feelings. Our tightly knit community also allows for frequent communication between teachers and parents.
