Michael, the curator is extremely talented in choosing interesting installations for this museum on the Pepperdine University campus. Admission is free and the site is beautiful.

Set in the middle of the Pepperdine University campus, this 2 story art museum is great! First, it's free and that's always good. Second, they get some really fascinating pieces. The latest exhibit, California Dreaming, features California artists and California themes. You don't need a lot of time here. 2 rooms on the first floor and a smaller second floor are filled with some great choices. Give yourself about an hour. There's always a staff person on hand to answer any questions you might have. Exhibits rotate regularly so be sure to check out this one before the next collection comes in.

This museum is small and on the Pepperdine campus, but gets some really tremendous shows (Chihuly, Rodin, Warhol, Thiebaud etc.). The museum director, Michael Zakian, curates some amazing exhibits, and I've never been disappointed. If he's around, just ask him a couple of questions and he'll tell you fascinating things about the artwork and the artists.

If you want to dig deeper into Malibu, please check out the Weisman Museum online first for hours/days/exhibits and drive onto the Pepperdine campus to visit. It's not very big but is well curated and has had many amazing exhibits over the years.

Great small museum on Pepperdine campus.You can easily see it in 30 minutes. The ocean views outside are great, It is minutes to anywhere in Malibu. Exhibitions rotate every few months.
