tripadvisorA great book store, a great place to browse and spend some time and maybe buy something. The staff can help you find what you are looking for. I like to spend time here, a classic book store.
MoreAwesome collection of collector's and used books. Not too high-end for casual browsing, but way, way better than a run-of-the-mill used books store. Not too expensive, not too cheap. Just right. Fabulous selection, great location. Don't miss it.
MoreI absolutely love this bookstore. It's tucked away halfway down a side street that can be easy to miss, but shouldn't be. It specializes in poetry, old maps, and rare/old books, and any one of those topics is well worth a visit by itself. Entering the bookstore feels like entering a dusty, half-half remembered dream of a bookstore, with books stacked on shelves, the floor, and in every nook and cranny. There's a book for everyone in here, so spend some time browsing the shelves and letting your imagination roam. The staff are super friendly and don't bother you.
MoreWhat a great bookstore to find yourself - stumbled across it as we were wandering around Boston. I could have easily spent a few hours in here if I had not been pulled away. Floor to ceiling books, prints, and maps. Being a book lover, this was one of the best stops. Staff was very helpful and you can find older and rare books along with some newer editions.
MoreCommonwealth has been around for years and years, specializing in poetry, maps, and antiquarian books. It's a smaller shop with a decent fiction section, but those looking for huge amounts of mass market paperbacks may be disappointed. The book quality is high, and the prices are decent considering it's in a high-traffic touristy area. If you're interested in antiquarian books or want to kill an hour browsing, this a spot to do it in. If you're looking for a larger selection with more dedicated genre sections, then Brattle a little bit further into DTX may scratch your itch better.
