tripadvisorMy wife and I went to see Gary Puckett for our 42nd anniversary. Main Street Crossing is and intimate setting for seeing older popular acts and cover bands. We enjoyed a meal, mostly comfort foods, and a drink before the show. The food was good, and the service well done. I had enjoyed Gary Puckett as a youngster and hoped that this show would bring back pleasant memories. Unfortunately, Gary has not aged like fine wine, and his voice was strained by his late 60's hits. Of course, I should cut the 82-year-old Puckett some slack. The sound system was poor, possibly on purpose to mask his voice difficulties. We did enjoy the show however and it was fun to see 60–70-year-old women singing along with the band. I would recommend Main Street as a venue.
MoreI typically don't like venues like this and was waiting for the right artist to try it out. Tomball is a :45 minute from my home. Gary Puckett and the Union Gap is a late 60's group that had a handful of hits at the time. Have seen these guys a few times in the past and Gary has always been good. My disappointments came in three ways, First, this is a wine and beer-only venue. Okay. Not sure why you'd limit revenue this way but I'll accept that. Second, the food choices and prep was lacking. Frozen pizzas, really?... And third, the sound. The shlub mixing the sound spent half the concert scrolling pictures on his cell phone. The two big 70's-style speakers hung above the stage were poor at best. In a small venue such as this, the drummer needs to be a clear plastic cage, to bring his volume down. Drums overpowered everything.I won't be back.D.A.
MoreFirst- please move smokers off the front sidewalk 2 foot from the door - if I wanted to smell like a cigarette I’d smoke a pack on the way. Second - today’s experience is the absolute worst we’ve ever had. Sat by a table of loud obnoxious women - who constantly had multiple conversations going even when reminded was a listening room- sing - clap have a blast but keep the conversation quiet- then so rowdy that either a wine glass or a wine bottle was dropped and shattered. Lastly with 15 minutes left of the show a couple was seated causing so much commotion at our table and the table beside us that we missed the song being played. Who seats people 75 minutes into a 90 minute set. Not our first time here - we frequent MSC - but with so many entertainment options in our area - not sure how soon we will make the hour commute again.
MoreLove, Love, Love this place! Not a bad seat in the house. The front half of the venue consists of tables and chairs arranged in different formations. You may be seated at an 8 top, 6 top, or 4 top. If you have a large group make sure you mention that when booking your tickets so they will seat you together. The back half has bar-height tables and chairs, all positioned to where the stage faces the side of you. No seat is more than about 150 feet from the stage. It's not uncommon to see musicians walking about before or after shows. Over the past few years, we've seen a variety of musicians from local artists to award-winning artists. Known artists like Ambrosia, Little Texas, Crystal Gayle and Billy Bob Thornton have all performed in the past year. The ticket sales basically go to the performers and the food /drink profits go to the house. Therefore, we always make it a point to eat and drink at Main Street when seeing a show there. Food consists of hamburgers, BLT's, pizza, salad, etc. They have a variety of beer and wine. We choose a bottle of Austin Hope. Definitely recommend purchasing tickets well in advance.
MoreWhat a fun venue for up close sing-along fun. A variety of popular older musicians and many tributes in a wide variety of genres in a cozy atmosphere make for a fun-filled evening.Make reservations early (sometimes months ahead!) for popular entertainers. The food is quite decent and filling. There is a wide selection of wines and beers to enjoy with the show.
