tripadvisorA beautiful memorial park, very moving and inspirational to reflect on the military who gave all, and the debt we owe them to remember them and preserve the constitutional freedom for which they died. In addition to the world wars and subsequent actions like Korea, Viet Nam and The Gulf Wars, as a western history buff, I found the exhibits on Buffalo Wallow and Adobe Walls very informative and interesting. Well worth your time only if accurate history, honor, duty, patriotism, courage, honesty and integrity are part of your personal values.
MoreCan't say enough about the volunteers here. You can tell they are passionate about this place. They took a good bit of time out of their day to show us around and explain some of the displays. The outdoor displays are equally as impressive. The entire complex is a fitting tribute to the men and women who fought for our freedom. THANK YOU!!!!!
MoreWe stopped here for the night while traveling west. The exhibit building was closed when we arrived but we did enjoy apending time in the memorial garden. The next morning one fo the docents was walking around the grounds and stopped to chat. he invited is inside the exhibit building. What and experience! Thwy have an incredible collection of war memorial artifacts that would take hours to view. Incredibly fascinating. If you stop here be sure to plan time to visit the exhibit building.
MoreWould highly recommend a visit this memorial. It is is very well done. It does not overwhelm you with information, like many museums and other memorials do. I could take my time and look at all the exhibits. Takes 1-2 hours to go through it…
MoreThis memorial is a great tribute to the men and women who served, primarily from the Amarillo area. It's not huge, but worth stopped and paying respects. Good summary information about each conflict/war the US supported.
