tripadvisorThe cafe is amazing. The cafe manager, T J, is a wonderful barista, She is dedicated in providing excellent service and offering delicious beverages, many seasonal. This cafe is a hidden gem in lower manhattan
MoreI've never heard of this place until I was in the neighborhood recently and it popped up in Google maps. I love books so I had to stop by.Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. The store sells books, used clothing, housewares, and a little bit of everything. There’s an on-site café that sells coffee, and many signs advertise social activities like open mics and community events. A safe, cozy, lively spot with a warm vibe and community energy.
MoreI’m in heaven! Wouldn’t it be lovely to start a store like this in Melbourne.Housing Works Bookstore & Cafe has a mission that resonates with everyone - that 100% of their profits go to fund Housing Works’ lifesaving services. The store is full of secondhand, donated stock in mint condition, as well as an eclectic selection of homewares, fashion and antiques. There is a mezzanine that has a funky array of clothes, bags and shoes that’ll have you flicking through racks to find that gem for your wardrobe. The volunteer staff greet you with a smile and do an awesome job of keeping the shelves interesting with new stock. Although the store is large and open, there is a warmth and coziness that invites you to explore all the nook and crannies. The bonus of a cafe means you can read through your book finds over a cuppa or even a beer. Or hang out with friends and share your literature stories.Love the “no electronics” policy which gives you and everyone around you a break from the modern world and a chance to engulf yourself in the simplicity of books. For those “Swiftie” fans, Taylor is a fan of the store and contributes through her philanthropic efforts. Allow at least a half hour to explore, it has become a “go-to” in SoHo.It has only taken a decade for @housingworks to secure its name as a New York downtown institution and tourist destination and no doubt will continue to be an iconic place to visit in the future. #thewanderingreviewer #newyork2024 #usa2024 #housingbookstore #housingworks #housingworksbookstore #housingworksthriftshops #housingworksbookstorecafe #housingworksthriftshop #housingworksnyc
MoreI loved places like this, a little café bookshop that carries all donated books and also is run by volunteers donating 100% of profits to lifesaving services. You can find little gems here obviously and for a book worm, it is heaven. Has a café on premises which means that you can stay here for half a day and not get bored. A great idea, and I feel like every city should have such a place.
MoreFantastic array of reasonably priced used books carefully curated to intrigue but not overwhelm you —- plus records and other items you might find in the big book stores. Clean bathroom, cute cafe/bar and beautiful spiral staircase. I could have spent all day there!
