Edmond Historical Society & Museum is the best place in town to get a glimpse of its history. Set in an old Armory building, you will find the archives, artifacts and documents very fascinating. They also have newspaper clippings and historical photos in their displays.

tripadvisorThis is a small exhibition held within the old National Guard Armoury building at Stephenson Park in Edmond. Entry is free and opening hours are 10am to 5pm (Mon to Fri), 1pm to 4pm (Sat), closed on Sundays. You can comfortably view the exhibitions related to Edmond's founding, name and early history in 15-20 minutes. Makes for a nice introduction to this community in Oklahoma County that was founded shortly after the famous Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889.
More*07/22/2023 Traveling / visiting doing the Route 66 passport adventure however we where flagged by the executive director Amy Stephens on not allowing us to bring in our Yorkie/ Shih Tzu in the building and she suggested that we could sit in the car or wait outside in 101 degrees heat…! Also nothing was posted. She stated that as of Thursday rules changed and was reading questions of her cellphone. Very selective encounter/ experience and won’t visit nor support .

MoreAfter a graduation, which was close by, we all stopped at this small museum. It is housed in an Armory, built in 1936, to protect the people of Edmond. The sandstone building is fascinating, and we spent some time looking over the outside, and admiring it. What a perfect structure to hold the history of this city. Inside, there are over 42,000 artifacts, all connected to Edmond. There are both permanent and rotating exhibits. We enjoyed looking at all of them. Loved the Tiny, But Mighty, temporary exhibit of 72 small artifacts from the museum collection. Entrance is free, and donations are very appreciated. There is ample parking in a connected lot.
MoreThis museum is so very wonderful. The staff are top notch. The effort they have put into making this an educational and hands on experience for kids is the best I’ve seen. The adults in our group had plenty of historical things to take in and read and the teen in our group enjoyed everything especially the large checkers table. Highly recommend!
