Founded in 1885, Grand Junction Regional Center, also known as GJRS, works to promote independent life skills in people with developmental disabilities. It also offers support services for other providers and agencies. The center operates a 32-plus-bed skilled nursing facility that provides medical care services. Grand Junction Regional Center manages a 45-plus-bed facility that provides psychiatric care, nutritional counseling case management and social services. The center offers residential care, vocational training and rehabilitative services. It employs psychiatric technicians, physicians and certified nurse practitioners who provide mental health, dental and vision care services. The center provides speech, occupational and community therapies, as well as quality assurance and investigation services. Grand Junction Regional Center is accredited by the Council on Quality and Leadership. The center is operated by the Colorado Department of Human Services.
