Eisenhower Park Park

Located in northwest San Antonio, Eisenhower Park is a great place to go to get away from the noise and hurried pace of city life. The park spans 318 acres and offers approximately five miles of well-marked trails for hikers of all abilities. One of the trails is even paved, and is therefore friendly to those in wheelchairs who still want to experience the great outdoors. Because this is such a high volume park, and also due to the scorching South Texas summers, the best time to see the wildlife here is either early in the morning or near dusk. Visitors may spot white-tailed deer, armadillos, raccoons and skunks, as well as many unique insects. Not the biggest or the best, Eisenhower Park is still a good place to visit, it is very busy at times and the observation tower does offer a grand view of the city when the conditions are right. This park is open to public on all days of the week from 6 a.m onwards.

Nice park, There are several trails. I like the natural trails. You can take your dog to this park. It's very quiet and pieceful once you go out to some of the longer trails.

Visiting San Antonio from Cincinnati for birdwatching. Nice variety of trail types for all levels of ability, both paved and natural. While the weather was not the best for birding, we still got good looks at the Western Scrub Jay and Black-crested Titmouse, as advertised in the Texas Wildlife Trail Guide. The Observation Tower gave good tree top views and views of the surrounding area. We would like to return at a better time of the year for another look.

This park has a variety of options for trail hiking, walking and running. They have clearly marked paved trails as well as dirt nature trails. There is also an option on the Hillview trail to experience climbing and beautiful city escape views. It is a great park for all ages, preferences and exercise levels. They have restrooms, a playground and it is pet friendly. Great combo of sunny and shaded areas as well.
